Adopt a Bichon Frise (long coat)

Bichon Frise (long coat) Dog

Avalanche the Dog needs a home

We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express.  All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.

* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue

This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)

Avalanche is a 3 year old Bichon who weighs 15.6lbs. He has a non-shedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. It may take some imagination to picture him in a long beautiful soft coat but in no time that's exactly what he will have and he'll be gorgeous. (Did you see the 2018 Westminster Best in Show, Flynn? He's a Bichon and that's what Avalanche can look like with a full coat!) Unfortunately this is what happens when a dog's coat is not taken care of and the reason we often are so picky about finding homes that understand the grooming needs of nonshedding dogs. So, we will be looking for that home that understands the grooming needs of such dogs and can demonstrate such on the application.

Avalanche is the happiest dog you will ever meet. He is Mr. Personality. He will come into a room and he will command that room's attention and he will have everyone dancing to his tune by the time he leaves. He loves everyone and he hasn't met a stranger yet. Meet him and love him. He also gets along well with other dogs. He is currently fostered with big and little dogs. He seems to have a way with dogs much like humans.

Avalanche came into our rescue from a home that was no longer able to take care of him. We were grateful to take him in and be able to offer him a fantastic new home and life.

Avalanche is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are children in the home they need to be over the age of 6.

**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)

**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
